Sri Chamundeshwari Temple

On top of Chamundi Hills is the Chamundeshwari Temple and Nandi statue, offering a 360-degree view of Mysore. Built during the time of Maharajas, this place is revered and known for its traditional temple architecture and art, and intriguing pillars & carvings. A unique aspect is the statue of Mahishasura and the colossal Nandi statue halfway up the hill, carved from granite.

Ambavilas Palace

The Mysore Palace is a stunning example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, built in 1912 for the Wodeyar Dynasty. It remains one of India’s largest and most impressive palaces, attracting visitors worldwide to admire its grandeur and design. The palace lights up every evening with approximately 97,000 lights, showcasing its beauty and history. Originally constructed in wood in the early 14th century by the Wodeyars, it was rebuilt after being destroyed by lightning in 1638 AD by Tipu Sultan.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, 21 kilometers from Mysore, is a haven for nature enthusiasts and bird lovers. It’s spread over small islands on the Cauvery River, a hotspot for migratory birds and a key birding destination in India.
With 200+ bird species, both resident and migratory, visitors can observe birds like painted storks, pelicans, egrets, kingfishers, and ibis. During the Nov to June migratory season, birds from Siberia visit, ideal for birdwatching.
A guided boat ride along the Cauvery River is a highlight of visiting Ranganathittu, where you can experience the serene waters.
